Trying to plan your child’s Birthday in the midst of a quarantine can be tricky. You definitely can’t have friends and family come together to celebrate with you. That doesn’t mean that all is lost. We’ve put together a few ideas on how to throw an epic and unforgettable celebration in the comfort of your own home, while social distancing.
First thing’s first: decorating your house (both inside and out!). Since your local party store is closed for the time being, you’ll need to get creative with choosing a party theme using what you have lying around the house.
We are offering home delivery, so you could order your little one a big balloon bouquet or crazy balloon Animals. Make your place look like it’s ready for a full-blown, party so that even under these circumstances your child can have his/her big day!
Since you won’t be able to have live entertainment during social distancing hire some virtual entertainment. Surprise your child with a Zoom, FaceTime or Skype visit from Ooopsy or any of our GREAT characters!! A personalized online performance by a caricaturist, clown, costumed character or magician. Set up a video chat and your child will be amazed by the one-on-one time with a talented performer. Be sure to record or livestream the interaction so you can share it with friends and family.
The internet is a treasure trove for activities and classes. Choose a few that are in your child’s favorite and make them a part of the celebration. If your child loves dancing create a dance playlist that you can do with them at home. A dance party will get them moving and watching their parents dance moves will crack them up for sure!
Unfortunately, you can’t rally friends and family to swing by and celebrate, but that doesn’t mean they can’t participate. You can ask loved ones, and your child’s friend’s to join your VIRTUAL Party via a free App like Zoom or Google Hangouts. Or, if they don’t live far, ask them to do a driveway parade or walk-by visit and wave from afar. Your child will probably love seeing their besties and relatives, even if they are a safe distance of six feet away.
You are probably tired of your own cooking maybe a food swap with your closest friends to change it up that day! Or order a pick up.
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably watched too many baking videos during your quarantine. Well, now it’s time to put those skills you learned to the test by crafting your child one awesome birthday cake. Try some new techniques, get crazy with different flavors and decorations, and, if you’re super creative, surround it with other sweet treats (donuts, brownies, marshmallows, Cheerios). Not only will this make your child’s at-home birthday party a bit more magical, and something to brag about on your Instagram story, too.
Like every major milestone, you’ll want to document your efforts. Even if it isn’t the epic event you’d initially had in mind, you can make this quarantine situation a way to show creative and out of the box ideas! Take pictures and record videos, so that you can remember how awesome their celebration was and take advantage of showing your children how to make the best of any situation!

Cute experiment to show children why they need to wash their hands. Especially now during this COVID-19 situation.
